When Barbara Butler found that almost half of the visitors to her site were using mobile devices, she decided to make her site easier to view and navigate by creating a mobile friendly website.

408 Group worked with Barbara and her team to develop a custom mobile site that sits along side her full site and shares the same content management system making it easy for the team to manage the content and for her users to see all her great designs from their smartphones.

Rosco, a leading provider of mirrors for a wide range of commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, vans and specialty vehicles decided to expand their product line to “In Vehicle” recording equipment. A small device mounted on the dashboard of a commercial vehicle, enables the recording of front and back video, GPS location, speed and G-Shock information as the vehicle is moving. Data is recorded to an SD card which can be removed for playback and archiving.

Working with this NY based company, the 408 Group implemented a desktop cataloging system and player which enables fleet operators  to monitor multiple drivers and vehicles , and archive and report incidents. Integrated with GPS, Shock, Speed and Panic Sensors the software provides a range of instrument readouts to show driver locations, speed, accidents, and rough driving.

NYC/Department of Finance

The Mobile Property Tax Assessment Pilot Project is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of assessors’ use of hand-held devices to support their field activities using Windows Mobile Handheld Computers. Assessors have a full set of tax parcel maps and property data for the five boroughs of New York City loaded on their devices. The pilot project was funded by a grant from the New York State Office of Real Property Services. The piloted solution was jointly developed by the New York City Department of Finance (Property Division & Finance Information Technology),the CUNY Center for Urban Research, and 408 Group. The Department of Finance is evaluating the results of the pilot project for potential expansion to its entire field assessment team.

NYC/Department of City Planning

Developed by the Department of City Planning as part of its Parking Information and Demonstration Project, Parking Information for the Mobile Web shows the location of all parking facilities licensed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, as of September 2005, in The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

This application lists sites in New York City including subway lines and stations, major cultural institutions, government offices, sports and recreational facilities, colleges, hospitals, and other points of interest – each of which can be linked to a map showing nearby parking facilities. Parking Lots can also be located by their proximity to specific addresses and intersections within the 5 boroughs of New York City.

408 Group worked with City Planning to define the solution architecture, use of existing GIS data, development of server, client and web tiers.

CPC Data

CPC Data Systems specializes in the collection and processing of medical claims for hospitals and medical practices. The company wanted to automate the collection and submission of data so that a physician could record charges and diagnoses on a PDA, thus speeding collection and eliminating errors due to transcription and data entry.

408 Group provided a solution which employed Pocket PC’s, Desktop Workstations and a Secure FTP Site. The solution was optimized to provide quick retrieval of patients records, medical procedures and codes, using incremental searches. All lookup data can be dynamically updated using a custom developed Active Sync Conduit.
